Morning Ferry from Belfast to Cairnryan

Duration 2.5 hours
Difficulty Easy

Our Scottish adventure begins bright and early as we board the ferry from Belfast to Cairnryan. As the ship pulls away from Northern Ireland, settle into the comfortable passenger lounges and watch the Belfast coastline slowly disappear behind us.

The crossing takes approximately two hours and fifteen minutes, giving you time to enjoy breakfast, relax with a coffee or step outside for some fresh sea air. Onboard restaurants and comfortable seating make the journey an easy and enjoyable transition between Ireland and Scotland.

As we cross the North Channel, keep an eye on the horizon for seabirds, passing ships and our first views of the Scottish coast. Before long, the hills surrounding Loch Ryan appear ahead, signalling our arrival in Cairnryan and the beginning of our journey through Scotland.

Why we love it

Travelling by ferry makes the journey to Scotland feel like part of the adventure rather than simply a transfer. There’s something special about leaving one coastline behind and watching another appear on the horizon—especially with breakfast, good company and an exciting day ahead.
