Covering more than 4,500 square kilometres, Cairngorms National Park is the largest national park in the United Kingdom. Here, broad Highland valleys rise towards vast mountain plateaux, while ancient pine forests, heather-covered moors and clear rivers create a landscape that feels wonderfully wild and open.
Our journey through the park reveals scenery on an enormous scale. Mountain peaks appear beyond the trees, streams tumble through rocky glens and quiet villages sit beneath skies that seem to stretch forever. Scenic stops provide time to breathe in the crisp Highland air, take photographs and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
The Cairngorms are also home to an extraordinary variety of wildlife, including red deer, golden eagles, red squirrels and mountain hares. Sightings can never be guaranteed, but there is always a reason to keep watching the hillsides, forests and skies as we travel deeper into the Highlands.
