Wild Kitchen Foraging Experience

Duration 3 hours
Difficulty Moderate

Along the rugged coastline and quiet country lanes of the Burren in County Clare, Wild Kitchen invites you to discover Ireland’s landscape through its wild and wonderfully varied flavours. Led by local wild-food expert Oonagh O’Dwyer, this experience reveals just how much of nature’s larder is hidden in plain sight.

Depending on the season, you may forage for edible seaweed, herbs, flowers, berries, roots, seeds and nuts. As you explore the seashore, hedgerows and old Irish lanes, Oonagh will teach you how to identify wild ingredients, harvest them responsibly and avoid unsuitable lookalikes. She also shares traditional uses, local stories and plenty of ideas for bringing these unusual ingredients into your own cooking.

Of course, the best part of any food experience is the tasting. Your freshly gathered ingredients may become part of a wild-food picnic, a seaside tasting or a simple dish prepared using the flavours of the surrounding landscape. It’s an immersive and delicious way to connect with the Burren, the Atlantic coast and Ireland’s rich food heritage.

Why we love it

Wild Kitchen transforms an ordinary walk through the countryside into a genuine culinary adventure. Oonagh’s knowledge and enthusiasm will have you looking at Ireland’s hedgerows and shoreline in an entirely new way. It’s local, seasonal and wonderfully authentic—and you may never walk past a patch of wild plants quite so casually again.
