Of course, no visit would be complete without ascending to the battlements to kiss the legendary Blarney Stone. For centuries, travellers from all corners of the globe have made the daring lean backwards over the castle wall in hopes of receiving the fabled gift of eloquence. Beyond the stone, the castle’s gardens are a highlight in their own right. The grounds feature a rich tapestry of floral displays, ancient trees, and intriguing spots like the Witch’s Stone and the Poison Garden. The paved paths and gentle terrain make it easy to explore at your own pace, offering a tranquil contrast to the castle’s towering drama. Blarney Castle is not just a historical visit—it’s an enchanting journey into Ireland’s folklore, nature, and charm.

Why we love it

The infamous Blarney stone has a great story to it, not to give away too much, but this particular stone was once a gift to the McCarthy clan, to which the castle once belonged, from their Scottish allies the DeBruce clan. These two warrior clans joined forces against the English on many occasion.
